ABOUT ME

Hello!

My name is Sandra Gómez Vila, I am a technician in printing and natural textile dyes. Although I was born in Barcelona and I have always been very attached to this city, I live in Montgat,  a little town in the Maresme region, with a long seafaring tradition. I grew up among fabrics and pins, going with my mother and aunts to my godmother's house, Mrs. Lola, a seamstress who taught sewing to neighbours and friends.  

I grew up and my path led me to studying Textile Printing and Artistic Dyes at the La Llotja School of Design and Art, graduating as a senior technician in textile printing. While I was raising my two eldest sons, I became the mother of a little girl. However, I found a balance between my work in the public administration, my family and my passion for fabrics.  

I started making patchwork bedspreads for my kids, then I also made them for my friends and family newborns, but I bought the fabrics and felt them very impersonal, I did not identify with them. So I started designing my own prints and dyeing them with natural dyes. Now I only use second-hand natural fibres textiles and I dye them myself with fruits, flowers, spices and everything that can be extracted from the earth and that somehow can return to it without damaging it.

All pieces created in Studio Taller Print are made, sewn, dyed, embroidered, padded and   photographed by me.
